The Chaplain provides pastoral care and spiritual guidance, counseling, education and services to residents, families, and staff at Wesley Enhanced Living.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and deliver pastoral care services in keeping with the provision of care standards and activities in the facility.
  • Provide pastoral guidance, leadership, support, counseling, and education to residents, family members, and facility staff, including grief/loss counseling, and stress management.
  • Plan and conducts all regular and special services of worship, (i.e. communion, memorial services, etc.).   Involves residents in planning and implementation, when appropriate.
  • Use clinical assessment skills to obtain and utilize information pertinent to residents’ spiritual and religious interests and to assure appropriate access to religious/spiritual resources in emergency and non-emergency situation.
  • Work with staff and families to identify and assess religious concerns of resident.  Develops and implements spiritual care plans as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Related Experience:

  • One year of specialized training in working with the elderly or in an acute care setting preferred. Experience in an institutional setting with clinical pastoral education desirable

 

Education or Degree Requirement:

  • Master of Divinity degree from a seminary program is required

 

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:

  • Ordained as a minister (preferably United Methodist).
  • Must be a minister in good standing in denomination and posses the personal qualifications necessary to work as a member of a clinical team; able to build personal relationships with residents, staff and the public
