The Sous Chef is responsible for assisting the Head Chef with daily responsibilities, and to make a compelling difference in the lives of our residents through providing excellence and innovation in aging services. The Sous Chef is primarily responsible for staff performance including the daily supervision and retention of culinary staff.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain effective and efficient dining services, maintains positive resident relations, develops and maintains positive relations with staff members in all departments.
  • Ensure products and staff services are consistent with regulatory standards as well as quality and excellence standards. 
  • Assist Profit & Loss management by following WEL policies and procedures, managing staffing and overtime budget, maintaining inventory controls, managing staff performance, reviewing financial reports, and taking appropriate actions.
  • Assists General Manager, and Head Chef with interviewing, hiring, training, daily supervision, and retention of qualified staff. 
  • Directly supervises the delivery of food products and effective staff service to residents.
  • Ensure food is received, stored, prepared, held and served in compliance with dining services procedures and state and federal guidelines.
  • Assist Head Chef with ordering all products needed
  • Perform all other tasks as required.

Qualifications

Related Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years' cooking experience required. Previous Health Care Food Service experience preferred

 

Education or Degree Requirement:

  • Minimum Associate's level in Culinary or Hotel/Restaurant Management or 5yrs'         food service experience and 3yr supervisory experience 

 

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:

  • ServSafe Certification
