Responsibilities

The Laundry Worker is responsible for performing laundry duties in accordance with established procedures to insure proper infection and disease control; implementing specific procedures and programs; coordinating work within the department as well as with other departments; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for essential duties.

 

Laundry Worker essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs laundry duties in accordance with established procedures to insure proper infection control.
  • Collects, sorts, washes, soaks, and dries soiled laundry and linen; operate washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment.
  • Folds, stacks and delivers laundry, linen, and residents’ personal clothing.
  • Inspects laundry and linen for needed repairs, etc.
  • Implements procedures that reduce the loss of laundry items and participates in location of missing items.
  • Handles contaminated linen according to infection control procedures.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies in an orderly manner and keeps work area clean, safe, and sanitary; uses supplies and equipment according to directions; inventory supplies on an ongoing basis and notify appropriate personnel of needed supplies.
  • Performs all essential housekeeping duties within the laundry area.
  • Conducts laundry usage studies and inventory and maintains other essential records.
  • Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  • Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provide data to appropriate management personnel.
  • Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area or to requests from residents, visitors, other staff personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
  • Operate the Garment Identification Labeling machine.

Related Experience: No prior experience required

 

Education or Degree Required: A high school diploma or equivalent preferred

 

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations: None
