    The Staff Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of financial information in the accounting system. This position will provide support to the Senior Accountants and backup support for the Accounts Payable function.  The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Manager, Business Process.


    Staff Accountant essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


    Accounting and Reporting

    • Work in a team relationship with all staff within the Finance Department and with the staff of other departments to accomplish daily, monthly, and annual goals.
    • Prepare, verify, and enter all journal entries for assigned communities, including one-time, standard, recurring and reversing journal entries.
    • Identify and input all invoice expenses in correct period and streamline the data processing support required during month-end closings.
    • Review Accounts Payable aging schedules and vendor statements. Serve as backup for Accounts Payable.
    • Correspond with other departments to ensure proper accounting for purchases and expenses.
    • Assist with maintenance of fixed assets schedules and related depreciation entries.
    • Prepare bank reconciliations and handle open items such as outstanding checks and deposits in transit.
    • Monthly general ledger analysis and reconciliation; analyze monthly trial balance for corrections.
    • Prepare monthly work papers to document and support balance sheet entries.
    • Assist the Controller with maintaining and implementing internal controls, procedures, and policies.
    • Preparation and support for the annual audit, and other related financial reporting.
    • Input budget line items into accounting software for new budget year.


    Related Experience: Minimum 2-5 years accounting experience; prior non-profit experience and exposure to senior living industry a plus; prefer experience with Sage accounting software, or exposure to similar accounting software platform


    Education or Degree Requirement:Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in accounting or equivalent degree
