The Renovation Specialist is responsible to make a compelling difference in the lives of our residents through providing excellence and innovation in aging services.  


The Renovation Specialist will supervise staff and oversee and perform all construction related to upgrades of apartments and cottages and to the overall campus. This will be accomplished through the performance of tasks that require the application of general maintenance and repair techniques, materials, tools and equipment.  The Renovation Specialist serves as a member of the Maintenance team that is responsible for the physical condition of the campus.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties


  1. Confer with staff, contractors, vendors or design professionals to discuss, plan, and manage work procedures, construction schedules, complaints, and other issues.
  2. Plan and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.
  3. Inspect and review projects to ensure compliance with state and local building codes.
  4. Plans and performs routine and emergency repairs in residential apartments and public areas including electrical, plumbing, pipes and fittings, carpentry, and repair of doors and locks, etc.
  5. Perform installation of cabinetry, doors, trim, floors, windows, and residential appliances.
  6. Oversee and perform all apartment upgrades as requested from the Facilities Director in conjunction with the Marketing Department.
  7. Performs all drywall installations and finishing of the surfaces.
  8. Performs painting of project areas and other areas as directed.
  9. Completes all projects and work orders in a timely manner while providing detailed information of project progress and work order completion.
  10. Assist other Maintenance & Environmental services personnel, when necessary, in the completion of various projects or repairs.
  11. Assists in maintaining proper levels of material/supplies of the campus to ensure the timely and efficient completion of necessary tasks.
  12. Responsible for Snow removal of the campus with team approach.
  13. Will be expected to work a reasonable amount of scheduled and “on-call” overtime as necessary.
  14. May be required to work rotating weekend schedules
  15. Performs additional duties in order to ensure the effective and efficient operation within the community.
  16. May be required to travel to other WEL communities as needed,


Related Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction/carpentry fields.


Education or Degree Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent. Completions of Trade school training in related field  Some college preferred.


Licenses, Certifications, Registrations: Driver’s License in good standing
